Thomas has a wide global industry background and worked as CEO in various industries: Food, Packaging, Service, Machine building & Engineering, Pharmaceutical, Cleantech, etc.
He lived and worked across some countries and is globally active in renewable energy, circular economy, water and nutrient recovery systems, and other cleantech related technologies. He is a serial entrepreneur in various countries since 1982.
His vision and strategy helped him to introduce the legal deposit on beverages in cans and PET bottles in the year 2000 in Germany.
He works as consultant with consultants and industry on projects globally. He is lecturing at universities in Germany, Vietnam, Brazil, India Indonesia, and Thailand. As speaker he is active and cooperating with the EU and German Government programs helping other nations to learn and build in the context of renewable energy and circular economy.
He is founder, inventor, patent holder and developer of the business idea: small biogas plants for farms. He started this business 2010 in Germany in 2012 globally. Once he found out, that Germany’s annual amount of animal slurry equals 6 nuclear power plants and is nearly unused, he decided to take actions. His focus was on animal slurry plants and has now widened to all biowaste.

Over 100 biogas plants have been built according to his technology.

At Bert Energy GmbH he is responsible for product development, global marketing, and sales. In addition, he manages the India subsidiary and serves as director at the Kankyo Bert joint venture board in Chennai India.
Just lately he invented and introduced fully industrially manufactured biogas plants, thus cutting the cost for biogas plants by 50%. This is a paradigm shift for biogas industry and revolutionizing the biogas market globally.
As international speaker and consultant about biogas, renewable energy, etc. he initiated Bert Online Biogas Academy (B•O•B•A) – which is a globally attended webinar to learn about biogas / cleantech.
Born in 1955, studied in Frankfurt, Paris and London. MIM from AGSIM, in Phoenix Arizona, he lives outside of the Munich aera in Germany. Fluent speaking: German, French & English.
